2 Wildcards, 3 Division Winners ; that’s the current setup
The team with the most wins per league is also a division winner, lets call that team the Pennant Winner (PW)
So now
2 Wildcards (WC), 2 Division Winners (DW) that don’t have the most wins in their league, and a Pennant Winner (PW)
Division winners faces the WCs in the first round. The winners face off against each other in the second round. The winner of that bracket moves on to face the Pennant Winner in the third round.
New rule needed to reward winning the division. If a WC faces a DW in any series (not including the PW), then the WC needs 5 games to advance, a DW needs 3 games to advance.
Time table for the new post seasons since this expands a new round.
Previously:
1WC +5DS +7LS +7WS (20 games at a max)
5WC/3DW +5WC/3Win +7Pennant +7WS (24 games at a max, 20 games at a minimum)
Season can be shortened back to 154 games. First round TV revenues split with non-playoff teams (at max a 1/3rd)
