Tips to be a good lab TA
1. Be loud and clear of what you want and what you expect.
2. Know the fucking experiments like the back of your fucking head. Know what the students have trouble with. Know what happens when a student goes the wrong path, and be able to diagnose it.
3. Walk around. It's easy to just get lazy and sit at the corner. Be gregarious. Light hearted. Don't drop the hammer on any one kid if he has a bad day.
If they're fooling around with safety, dismiss them from lab. Enough said.
4. Listen around conversations. If a student says something, regarding the experiment, give it your say.
5. Be knowledgable. If a student asks for help, provide that person help. Do not cut off a student unless you know they're preventing the access of other students.
6. Be explicit with how you want your lab reports to be.
7. Write fair quizzes.
